He is currently a Professor at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic of Leiria. He is a member of the board of directors of the R&amp;D Institute INESC Coimbra and the head of the Delegation of the INESC Coimbra at the Polytechnic of Leiria.&nbsp;<\/p><p>His areas of interest are energy systems and policies, with particular focus on power systems planning, energy efficiency and demand-side management, as well as the application of operational research to the field. He has participated in several national and international R&amp;D projects and in specialized consulting for companies, namely regarding the assessment of cogeneration, demand-side planning and energy audits.
