How can technology help fisheries to keep with the EU goals for sustainability and ensure <strong>marine environment protection<\/strong>?<\/span><\/p><div class=\"field-wrapper field field-node--field-standfirst field-name-field-standfirst field-type-text-long field-label-hidden\"><div class=\"field-items\"><div class=\"field-item\"><p><span style=\"color: #333300;\">Remote <strong>electronic monitoring<\/strong> can help achieving just that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #333300;\">What gets measured, gets managed. That\u2019s why the widespread application of remote electronic monitoring (REM) will be key to delivering the EU\u2019s Green Deal.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #333300;\">Although the necessary technological solutions already exist or are being developed, regulatory changes and collaboration between scientists, marine and environmental organisations and policymakers will be required to really harness REM.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #333300;\">By initiating and supporting further REM trials across Europe, the EU can help to develop robust technology and legislation that will realise the full potential of REM and maintain a sustainable environment for future generations.
