Our friends at INESC Coimbra are looking for one PhD Research Associate Position, aimed at reinforcing the technical and scientific capacity of INESC Coimbra in the area of Resilience of Communication Networks in order to increase the quality of scientific production in this domain, as well as the participation in collaboration activities with national and international partners.

You will be developing models for communication network design aiming to minimize network resource usage, while satisfying QoS and availability guarantees.

Developing optimization models for the allocation of preconfigured resources, as a short-term response to failures in the network.

Developing single and/or multi-criteria optimization models for traffic rerouting and resource reconfiguration, as a long-term response to failures in the network, aiming to maximize recovered traffic.

You will also be supporting the research and development work supervised by INESC Coimbra researchers in the framework of Master dissertations and PhD theses.

Academic Qualifications

PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and holders of a scientific and professional curriculum that shows a profile appropriate to the activity to be developed.

Minimum profile required

– PhD degree;

– Demonstrated experience in the topics: resilient communication network design, namely in SDN networks; Operations research including skills in mathematical modelling and optimization methods; use of optimization tools such as CPLEX;

Preference factors

– Capability of writing technical/scientific documents in the English language;
– Leadership, a strong motivation to work in a team, combining excellent organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines;
– Excellent communication skills and ability to establishing collaborative links with industrial partners.
