Job Description

INESC ID is looking for a researcher to engage under the scope of project CIMPLE– Countering Creative Information Manipulation with Explainable AI – CHIST-ERA/0001/2019, funded by FUNDAÇÃO PARA A CIENCIA E A TECNOLOGIA I.P. The duration of the research fellowship is 31 months.

The researcher will investigate the generation and impact of creative AI explanation approaches, such as time-based visualisations and infographics, sound/music-based, in order to increase user engagement, understandability, and acceptance of AI explanations in the context of information manipulation. Social and psychological aspects will be taken into account in the aim of producing personalised XAI.

The candidates should have a Master Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related areas.

By the grant start date, the candidate must be enrolled in a PhD programme or in a non-degree programme.

Preference will be given to candidates who have exceptional previous work experience in the areas of Computational Creativity, Interaction, Interactive communication, Information Visualization and AI. Previous knowledge of music creation & composition and sound synthesis are also valued, in particular currents such as electroacoustic music.

The activity will be supervised by Helena Sofia Andrade Nunes Pereira Pinto, Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Tecnico and Researcher at INESC-ID. INESC ID will integrate the grantee in the research team of the scientific advisor.

The fellowship is renewable, if the candidate is enrolled in a PhD program or a non-degree program.
