Sofia AM Martins holds a PhD in Biotechnology (2008), from University of Lisbon- Instituto Superior Técnico- in Lisbon and has +12 years of post-doctoral experience in providing technical support to R&D projects in the field of molecular diagnostics and nanotechnology. She has published 30 scientific publications in international peer’s review scientific journals/books and was the principal editor of 2 editions of the Nature Springer Collection series on Methods in Molecular Biology.

She holds a post-graduation in Project Management and entrepreneurship experience, by creating a start-up in the field of molecular diagnostic devices (Magnomics SA). During this period, she accumulated the responsibilities of VP operations with the technical development and scientific coordination of the national QREN project nº38886: GENANALIZE. Since 2019, Sofia is the R&D Project Manager of INESC MN. Her focus is on building collaborations with both national and European partners, while ensuring funding for new scientific projects.
