Susana Freitas Elected Corresponding Member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences

We are pleased to share that Prof. Susana Freitas, researcher at INESC MN and Professor at the Department of Physics of Instituto Superior Técnico, has been elected a Corresponding Member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, joining the institution’s 2nd Section – Physics.

Her election was formalised in a swearing-in ceremony held on July 3, alongside four other professors from Técnico, a moment that reinforces the strong presence and continued excellence of the institution within one of Portugal’s most prestigious scientific academies.

The Lisbon Academy of Sciences plays a central role in promoting scientific research and cultural development in Portugal. Corresponding Members are selected based on their outstanding contributions to their scientific domains and are invited to contribute to the Academy’s ongoing work, including plenary sessions and strategic initiatives within their section.

This distinction recognises Prof. Freitas’s remarkable scientific career and her leadership in advancing physics and nanotechnology research nationally and internationally.
