Funding and Investment Strategies for Research Infrastructures

Funding and Investment Strategies for Research Infrastructures

About the Project

FUND-RI is a Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action examining how Research Infrastructures can move from fragmented funding arrangements towards more coherent, long-term investment strategies. The project maps funding streams across infrastructure lifecycles, analyses business and funding models, develops approaches to lifecycle costing, and translates the evidence into policy recommendations and an implementation toolkit for funders and RI managers.

INESC TEC coordinates the 30-month project, which runs from May 2026 to October 2028. The consortium brings together Research Infrastructure operators, universities and policy expertise from across Europe. The project’s outputs are designed to support discussion on the future European RI funding architecture, including the next Framework Programme and wider ERA priorities.
